In an era of relentless technological evolution, our consciousness is constantly fractured. I explore artistic expression to return the scattered mind to its ultimate origin: the eternal "here and now." My primary pigment is charcoal derived from Asa (hemp), a sacred plant cultivated by traditional farmers in Kanuma, Japan. Revered in Shinto tradition to purify spaces, this plant is burned deep within the mountains by the farmers, transmuting it into a profound black—a void that encompasses all colors and evokes the source of creation. Using this organic pigment, painting becomes a form of meditation, transforming the canvas into a Yuniwa (a sacred ground where deities descend in Shinto) to anchor the viewer’s awareness to the present. This work embodies Shinra Bansho, the totality of existence where all forms are interconnected in constant flux. Facing this boundless universe brings us back to the center of the self, revealing that this very moment is where the world begins.
