This is one of a series of paintings that I have been creating for the last few years. I paint on a grid that is laying down horizontally, building up layers of different colors of paint until the surface is covered completely. The painting is then lifted up and turned over to reveal the work. The result is a highly textured surface that comes off the surface in a tangled mass of stalactites in an array of colors and layers. Within these layers an image comes through, abstract yet alluding to something. Its about what people see in the vague imagery and the celebration of paint itself. This painting in particular looks at the Urban landscape in an abstract patchwork of forms and colors.
