Life and identity are not fixed; they are constantly being broken down and rebuilt. In this piece, created in 2026 as a 14-year-old, I used a cubist and surrealist approach to deconstruct the human face, scattering eyes, ears, and lips across the canvas. This painting is a reflection of my ongoing journey through my teenage years. After experiencing the initial shock of entering a larger, more overwhelming school environment a year ago, my perspective has shifted. I no longer see myself as just 'fragmented.' Instead, I realize I am in a continuous state of self-discovery. Each displaced sensory element represents a different piece of how I perceive the world and how the world looks back at me. Through this portrait, I want to show that growing up is a process of tearing down the old to piece together the new—it is an active, beautiful reconstruction of who we are.
