Ivan Loginov is one of the most prominent academic painters of his generation, born in 1994 in Abakan (South Siberia), Russia. Considered a global reference in Oil Impressionism and academic drawing, his work is an example of contemporary realism that merges the rigorous Russian tradition with a modern, expressive voice. His focus is the precise representation of the figure and the pursuit of beauty.
Loginov’s career is founded on the Imperial Academy of Arts (Repin Academy) in Saint Petersburg, where he trained since age 15. His success stems from this solid academic foundation in the classical Russian school, which he complemented by serving as an assistant to the head teacher at the Academy itself (2019-2021). This profound mastery allows him to teach international masterclasses while working from his studio in Saint Petersburg.
His main focus is portraiture and composition, aiming for a faithful representation of the human soul and a balance between inner and outer beauty. In his canvases, he uses pure colors and contrasts to achieve profound expression. This rigor and mastery have been recognized with multiple awards, including the Medal of the Russian Academy of Arts for Academic Achievement and the First Prize and Medal of the State Russian Museum in 2014. He was also awarded multiple times in the “Best Drawing and Sketches” competition at the Imperial Academy of Arts.
Ivan Loginov is a driving force in contemporary painting, recognized for his distinct technique. His philosophy is based on the idea that “every canvas must carry the living breath of its model.” As a virtual juror for the Tartget Prize 2026, he will contribute his rigorous academic standards and deep knowledge of classical painting, valuing technical excellence and the artists’ ability to instill sincerity and truth in their works, searching for beauty in the unexpected.
