This work explores the tension between identity and transformation. The subject holds the paintbrush responsible for both revealing and obscuring her own image, becoming simultaneously the artist and the artwork. As layers of paint construct and dissolve the portrait, she exists in a state of transition—actively participating in the process of shedding old versions of herself while moving toward renewal.
