Beyond, There Is the Ocean explores memory, distance, and the emotional space between childhood and the unknown. The work combines painting, transparent layers, reflections, and object-based elements to create the feeling of looking through a ship’s porthole — not only into the sea, but also into memory itself. The child figure is intentionally fragmented and partially transparent, suspended between presence and disappearance. The surface reflections become part of the composition, changing with light and the viewer’s position. This transforms the piece from a traditional painting into a shifting visual experience. The work is part of the Horizon Line series, focused on longing, transition, emotional landscapes, and the invisible boundaries between safety and discovery.
