The white doves circling above the two women are there for a reason: in Rüstamlı's visual language, the birds mark the presence of pure hearts - people who meet their day with honest work and ask nothing more of the world than the joy their hands can earn. The great paisley spiral that wraps around the scene holds the women the way a story holds its characters. Inside it, the garden is generous: a brass pitcher, a basket overflowing, a cat resting in the grass, fir trees, blossom. Outside it, the blue world swirls with fish and stars, the dream still moving at the edges of the told story.
