Narcissism driven by desire relies on external validation, comparing oneself to others. Eventually, through projection, this leads to attacking others. Yet while pleasure may be gained, joy does not endure. It is a cycle of emptiness and craving. This work draws the eye to red, yet employs over a dozen shades of black, each differing in brightness and texture. I always adjust the brightness and texture of the paint myself. I mix colours anticipating how light will fall upon them. The texture and luminosity of the hues are achieved by blending original mediums, though I keep no recipes. Even I cannot recreate the same colour twice. Light undoubtedly causes paintings to deteriorate, yet I believe their inner universality transcends even the laws of physics. I have no master, though the only influences on my style were the Galla Placidia in Ravenna and the Lindisfarne Gospels. All my works fuse my personal experiences with universality.
