With my art I try to tell stories. And sometimes I have to go beyond just paint on canvas to create the story I want to tell. The work you see here is made of three different paintings. The front canvas is painted on both sides, and cut open. It's mounted in front of the third painting and by falling open, parts of all three pieces can be seen. I would like the viewer to find their own story in my paintings, and influence them as little as possible with a name or description, but I can share a bit of my intention for this one. By using three paintings in one for 'Misunderstood Triptych', I wanted to show an ongoing process - It's a process of unwanted change, and the search for a new way, a new reality, now the old one is lost. Though this painting is personal to me, I think most people have gone through something like this. And I hope they will recognise something of their journey in this painting, and feel seen in their own struggle.
