Inspired by William-Adolphe Bouguereau’s "Time of Day" series. I've been working on figuring out how to stylize the female figure. I wanted to favor the way the 19th century painters did it while adding some of my own interpretation of beauty in the mix. Regarding the technical part of painting this, it was a long battle, especially since I had sanded down my panel so smooth it took several layers for the paint to stick to the surface and get the desired result. I ended up repainting the figure of the nymph about 5 times, resulting in 5 or so layers of thin paint in the skin areas.
