Relief of Divided Silence is created in memory of my late mother reflecting on loss and on how memories remain present long after a person is gone. The fractured relief surface, built with relief paste and acrylic paint, became a physical expression of an inner landscape shaped by grief, time, and remembrance. The dark lower section suggests the weight of loss, while the black-and-white upper area reflects the fragile space where memories emerge, fade, and return. At its center, a small red mark appears like a lingering heartbeat or trace of life within the silence. A winding branch crosses the composition diagonally, connecting different zones of the work. Painted white below and black above, it symbolizes a continuing bond between absence and presence, earth and memory, past and present. The branch suggests that relationships do not end at a visible boundary. Through texture, material, and contrast, the work gives form to emotions that are difficult to express in words.
