To create this piece, the artist first made several different paintings and then proceeded to cut them up into squares. The artist then hand-stitched each square together to create the canvas for 'Self-portrait'. On this canvas, the artist has embroidered the outline of her profile, thus bringing the whole work together as one piece of art.
