This work was inspired by a statement from Ariano Suassuna, who praised the almost magical creativity of certain liars. He told the story of a man who claimed to work with "hybrid bees," a mix of bees and fireflies, who worked day and night. This inventive lie enchanted me and sparked the desire to portray this magic. In the work, the liar appears with a "wooden face" and a Pinocchio nose, symbolizing his shamelessness. From him emanate the bright lights in the background, representing the fascination of those who, even knowing it is a lie, choose to believe because of the beauty of the invention. The work celebrates that creative impulse, almost childlike, to embark on fantasy, like a magic trick we prefer not to unravel.
