This painting explores the movement from darkness toward light, learning to trust the path of rising. In daily life, the breath often goes unnoticed; underwater, it reveals itself in quiet, beautiful patterns. In this self-portrait, it becomes the essence of being—a constant presence through both joyful and challenging moments, guiding us back to the present. Inspired by the Mediterranean Sea around Ibiza, where I gathered references, the sunlit sparkle of the ocean’s surface is captured in 24-karat gold leaf, emphasizing the threshold between depth and light. This self-portrait extends my investigation of perception, material, and embodied experience.
