MUSE is a figurative painting inspired by a spontaneous moment in the studio during a painting session in April 2022. Just before the session began, my model assumed a pose that was not initially planned, yet her intense, inward-looking gaze immediately commanded my attention. Though the moment might have appeared ordinary to an observer, I perceived something deeply evocative and exotic in her posture and expression. Her piercing eyes suggested more than a narrative — they evoked a quiet visual poetry. I became curious about the emotional and psychological space she occupied at that instant, and I asked her to remain in that position. The painting seeks to capture my perception of her gaze: contemplative, sensual, and emotionally charged — a celebration of dark-skin beauty immersed in thought. Rather than depicting a literal likeness, MUSE explores desire, introspection, and emotional presence, translating an unspoken moment into a poetic visual language.
