For this painting I wanted to capture a woman of the time. The model is covered in amazing tattoos, something that was a fun challenge to paint. The painting is made with oil paint that I made myself from a recipe by Lukas Stofferis, the teacher/director of the now defunct Academy of Arts and Crafts in the Netherlands. The painting is made up of 15 layers of paint, starting with a verdaccio underpainting and building up the skintone and colours layer by layer.
