María Lizaso

María Lizaso’s presence on the Tartget Prize jury brings a unique perspective, shaped by brushes, science, and motherhood. A multidisciplinary artist from El Puerto de Santa María (Cádiz), her career is a testament to resilience: after studying Biology and working as an Environmental Technician, she redirected her life toward art, training at the Taller del Prado and specializing in Printmaking while raising her children.

Her work, rich in symbolism, blends diverse techniques to explore intimate experiences through a universal language. This narrative skill is complemented by her experience as a teacher, illustrator, and cultural manager.

As a juror, Lizaso combines technical rigor—honed during her time as a copyist at the Prado—with an empathetic gaze toward creative processes. She understands the challenges of emerging art and values projects that, like her own, unite authenticity and craftsmanship. Her voice in the competition doesn’t just judge: it inspires, reminding us that art thrives on life, tenacity, and boldness.
