This artwork is inspired by Malaysia’s rich heritage, highlighting the cultural significance of Wau Bulan (Moon Kite), rattan, and songket. These traditional crafts, passed down for generations, showcase the artistry and craftsmanship of the Malay people. The Wau Bulan, with its crescent shape and intricate patterns, represents Malaysia’s artistic heritage, while rattan weaving transforms natural vines into beautifully crafted items. The rattan in this artwork is embroidered with black and white glass beads, symbolizing balance—the contrast between tradition and modernity, as well as the harmony of Malaysia’s diverse culture. Songket, a handwoven fabric with gold and silver threads, is a symbol of royalty and tradition. In this painting, the Wau Bulan is not flying but firmly attached to deep roots, representing how Malaysian culture remains strong, grounded, and deeply connected to its people.
