This work was initially inspired by Madame Butterfly, but after the painting was started, it evolved into a very similar story taken from the book "The Painted Veil". However, there is something in the inspiration of this painting that remains unchanged, in its air and atmosphere, the incomparable opera of Puccini. It is a work that speaks of a woman trapped in the reality of her present but who yearns for her past with nostalgia. She waits for something or someone, but she is the one who must make a decision.
