This self-portrait is a raw exploration of my journey through middle age, confronting the emotional turbulence that often accompanies such a transition. It reflects my growing sense of isolation, the bittersweet realization that my youth is behind me, and the shifting dynamics of my identity—as both an artist and now a father. The drawing of a dinosaur, created by my daughter, symbolizes my fear of becoming irrelevant, of fading into the past like something extinct. The pale horse stands as a reminder of mortality, a looming presence that feels all too close. The chaotic swirl of the background mirrors the overwhelming noise of my ADHD mind, which often feels uncontrollable. Finally, the painting on the easel serves as a poignant representation of vulnerability—an acknowledgment of the rawness and uncertainty I now face.
