“Nocturnal winter landscape – you went away” is a work in mixed media - several layers of acrylic, bister and other inks were applied on canvas laminated with newspapers, suggesting a nocturnal winter landscape. I use the suje of the landscape as a foil for my emotional treatment of the loss of a beloved person. In this respect, the picture is more a landscape of the soul than a mimetic image of it. The viewer may be perplexed by the title of the work, because the person adressed as “you” in the title cannot be found in the picture – the person has gone and is missing.
