This piece came from a deep, almost physical longing to be back in Australia. At the time, I was feeling disconnected, caught between where I was and where I wanted to be. Painting became a way to navigate that emotion—to bring pieces of home to the surface, to sit with the nostalgia rather than push it away. Using a combination of acrylic paint, oil sticks, spray paint, and watercolor pencil, I built this work layer by layer, letting the forms and textures emerge naturally. The blues and warm earth tones remind me of the coastline, the feeling of sun on my skin, and the colors of home that stay with me no matter where I am. Some shapes are clear and structured, others are softer, blurred, like memories that shift over time. “Passage Home” is about that pull towards places, moments, and feelings that never really leave us.
