Everyday acts that are taken for granted, moments of love and affection, gentleness and humanity are some of what I seek to explore and relate through paint. I go beyond the face and likeness to capture the mood and spirit of the individual, carving out the space they inhabit, and crystallizing a simple but beautiful moment in time. This is not merely a self-portrait but a visual narrative of shared existence. It invites viewers to appreciate the beauty found in the simplicity of companionship, recognizing the profound impact that our animal counterparts can have on our emotional landscapes. My cat serves as a silent confidant, offering solace in moments of contemplation. I chose to paint Templeton and I as equals, each contributing to the other's sense of identity, belonging, and the shared journey of humans and their pets—a journey marked by loyalty, compassion, and an indescribable sense of connection.
