This paitning was created with the nostalgic thought about the passage of time. Trying to unfold this thought and feeeling something came to mind: there are many people que you could see their face light up when they talk about their memories of the past, specially about childhood. Because of this in my composition it is possible to notice the eyes without a sparkle of light that usually make pelople seemed alive althought the character was painted with very vibrant colors. That happens because the light focus is in the lamp that has a shape like a firefly (with a steampunk estetic) and contains the bright memories. In other words, it is like se person has been transfering to the light bulb all her shine and because of that she is feeding the memories, they are more alive than she. We are our memories and in the long run what is left to us is peace of mind or to be in peace with our lives, and because of that the eyes of the character is rather dead and peaceful and not sad.
