This piece is part of a series of paintings of influential artists in my life. This series explores the juxtaposition of my interpretational portrait of the artist portrait versus the space the artist inhabits. This piece starts with a line drawing, then continuing into a long process of building and scraping away layers. Each of my pieces has about five or six layers. It is a fine balancing act. The spaces draw the eye to a focal point within the room. The room plays on the imagination of space.
