My granddaughter Fáinche, as a newborn, is visited by three tiny Irish wild birds, each bringing a unique blessing. They emerge from a hawthorn tree, symbolizing June, the month of her birth. Fáinche, meaning “one who is free” in old Irish, is blessed by the wren, known for its adventurous spirit, offering her a hawthorn leaf and the gift of freedom, promising a life of exploration. The bluetit brings a gold thread, symbolizing creativity, ensuring she will always express herself in her own way. Lastly, the goldcrest, the smallest but most melodious, sings a song of joy, promising her a life filled with beauty and happiness. The 23-carat gold leaf emphasizes the significance of this moment. The delicate presence of the birds and Fáinche’s serene innocence create a scene rich in symbolism, celebrating a life destined to be filled with freedom, creativity, and joy.
