This painting was created during the first year after my father’s death. As I navigated grief, I often felt like I was living in between my spiritual experiences and my physical ones, trying dearly to make sense of it all. “Why does it feel like this?” is a representation of that feeling, halfway between the sky and the clouds, and my eyes being the only portal to my true feelings.
