Tartget is a contest open to all painting styles and techniques. The works that can participate cover all creative lines, from hyperrealism to abstraction.
The organization has set up nine specific categories, plus the young award that is exclusively governed by the age of the painter. Artists can register the same painting in more than one category, although there are exceptions that can be consulted in the rules.
1. Urban and industrial landscape
Scenes of urban areas, with buildings, industrial structures, streets, and interior scenes of buildings. They can highlight architecture, daily life, or the interaction between nature and the city. Participants have the opportunity to reflect the energy, complexity, and unique identity of cities.
2. Natural and outdoor landscape
Natural environments, such as forests, mountains, rivers, or meadows. These works can highlight the greatness of nature, the tranquility of open spaces, or the harmony between natural elements.
3. Animals and wildlife
From imposing predators to delicate creatures, these works capture the beauty and unique behavior of animals in nature. Artists can portray wildlife in different scenarios or pets and domestic animals in their lives more linked to humans.
4. Drawing and illustration
Creativity and visual expression through line and composition. From simple sketches to detailed illustrations, participants can explore a variety of styles to generate inspiring and evocative works. Portraits, landscapes, cityscapes, or animals are welcome, always using dry media (pencils, colored pencils, graphite, charcoal, sanguine, markers, or pen).
5. Still life and everyday objects
The beauty and simplicity of daily life through the representation of common objects. From fruits and flowers to household utensils, these works highlight elegance in the ordinary. Artists have the opportunity to explore light, shadow, and composition to create images that inspire contemplation and appreciation of the everyday.
6. Figure and portrait
Variety of styles and techniques to convey the personality, history, and emotion of the models. These paintings capture the essence and individuality of the subjects represented. From human groups to anatomy studies through emotional expressions. This contest values the artist’s ability to capture the beauty and complexity of the human form and facial expression.
7. Fantasy and imaginative
Imaginary worlds, fantastic creatures, magical scenes… These paintings transport the viewer to alternative universes full of adventure and wonder. From dream landscapes to mythological characters, participants can let their creativity soar and bring to life any idea that arises from their imagination.
8. Conceptual and Collage
Participants can express themselves by combining different visual elements, materials, and more avant-garde styles, merging figurative elements with more conceptual ones. Artists have the freedom to blend images, textures, and techniques to create works that challenge conventional and classical painting, paving the way for new forms of communication.
9. Abstraction
Open door to breaking with recognizable forms and experimenting with color, texture, and composition. From geometric creations to gestural expressions, these works challenge the conventions of traditional visual representation. Participants can approach their works through the widest variety of styles and techniques.
10. Young Painters
Paintings entered in this category must be the work of painters born before May 10, 2000. The theme can be adjuste to any of the nin previous category as specified in the rules.
